I’ve been meaning to do this review for quite a while now, before Xmas I started taking a Hair, Skin & Nails supplement. Its called Conefreys – Hair, Skin & Nails Formula, Conefreys is a family pharmacy based in Dublin, they create some own brand vitamins and supplements. Now my hair is a really touchy subject for me. After excessively bleaching my hair when it was short and growing back after chemo it became very fine, broken and damaged. So much so that my hair looked so bad it really knocked my confidence. At one of my hospital check ups I brought this supplement in with me to see if it was okay if I could take it . The doctor inspected the ingredients and had no issue. I am about 3 months into taking the supplement and my hair is really beginning to get stronger. The girl who does my extensions said she’s noticed an improvement in the condition of my hair. I myself can see my hair beginning to grow at a quicker rate but that is also being helped by the fact that I am no longer bleaching my hair and I am now opting for Balayage which isn’t as harsh. I think because my hair was so badly damaged its going to be a long road for me to get my hair into really good condition and this supplement is a great way to start me on the road to recovery.
Here is a little photo of before and after and how my hair has changed in the past 3 months. Excuse my unstyled hair in these photos but I think they are really accurate to show how you could really see my scalp back in the bleach blonde days. I only took the top of my head but I can assure you I am still very blonde its just the roots are darkened down. I would really recommend balayage I don’t know myself since I’ve started getting it done.
By taking a supplement I feel I am tackling some of the problem from within. Another benefit I have noticed with this supplement is how the condition of my nails has really improved. After chemo the nail on my thumb always cracked and broke. It would never grow past a certain length however it hasn’t broken in ages. My nails are growing quicker and are much stronger.
To really see the benefits of a hair supplement you need to be taking it for 6 months. I will continue with the supplement and give you guys another update on the hair situation in another 3 months. Before you take any such supplement you must consult your GP or Consultant as certain ingredients can interfere with medications, and you don’t need me to tell you guys if you are undergoing Chemo or Radiation it is most certainly not recommended to take any such supplements.
I think to get your hair back into good condition after wrecking it like I did, it takes numerous things not just one miracle product. Taking a supplement is the first step in the overall “SAVE MY HAIR” project. I keep heated styling to a minimum. I choose really good products to use on my hair. And as I said before colouring is now kept to an absolute minimum. If you are looking to try out this supplement its available from Conefreys Pharmacy , www.conefreyspharmacy.ie they are priced 30 Tabs €11 and 60 Tabs €18.50. I also must mention it is Gluten Free/Yeast Free/ Dairy Free / Sugar Free and suitable for vegetarians.
