On the eve of World Cancer Day I had the honor of being involved in Breast Cancer Irelands newest initiative, the Transition Year Schools Breast Awareness programme. As usual Breast Cancer Ireland have come up with an amazing initiative where they are proactively combating Breast Cancer, using a most powerful weapon EDUCATION. The aim is to educate girls on the importance of breast health, give them the knowledge so they know what is normal for their breasts, encourage and show them how to carry out breast examinations, remove the tabooo and fear of self examination. Its a brilliant initiative one which i only wish was available to me when i was in Transition Year.
