Top Skincare Tips

You are what you eat’ so cut out the C.R.A.P. = caffeine, refined sugars, alcohol, processed food- and after a week your skin will start to look more alive and radiant.

Reduce sugar intake-it’s well known to accelerate the rate at which our precious collagen breaks down  so remember a diet high in sugars leads to premature ageing and dull lack lustre skin.

Don’t smoke and if you do make a plan today to kick the habit, forever.

Aim to eat a balanced diet rich in organic lean protein, such as fish/chicken and less so red meat, wholesome carbohydrates such as porridge and homemade brown breads, and lots of in season brightly coloured fruit and vegetables. Aim to drink 2 litres of water each day. Try to eat like your Granny and a treat now and again is ok.

Be sunsmart- Slip-slop-slap-wrap-

= SLIP on a long sleeved shirt, SLOP on high factor 50 all over, SLAP  on a wide brimmed hat and wear WRAP around shades and seek the shade during the midday.

However, If you’re sunsmart, take Vitamin D supplement to counteract the lack of sun exposure. Vitamin D is essential for healthy teeth & bones, immunity and muscle function.

For Dry skin sufferers, take short lukewarm showers, pat skin dry and apply a rich moisturiser within 3 minutes window to minimise skin drying out. Choose cosmetics that have natural or organic ingredients and are kind to your skin. Seavite organic seaweed cosmetic range is formulated especially for sensitive or reactive skin and with continued use helps boost the skins natural barrier so it can become healthy and robust. http://www.seavite.ie

Oil the skin from within with a Daily omega 3 supplement such as Udos oil and cook with good quality oils and use extra virgin olive oils to make your own salad dressings.

Aim to get 8 hours sleep-this is when your body repairs cells and really is your beauty sleep.

Time out- know what relaxes you and practice it daily, stress is detrimental to skin health and worsens all existing skin disorders.
